Our Mission

Hudson County Community College 's Center for Business & Industry (CBI) is committed to partnering with business, industry, government, and community-based organizations in order to provide quality customized training and comprehensive educational services. The goal of our programs is to result in a more flexible and better-trained workforce capable of meeting the challenges of today's global economy.

About Hudson County Community College Center for Business and Industry

For more than 15 years, we have assisted area businesses to develop and improve employees' skills by offering an unlimited number of training programs, access to the newest technologies and methods, and entrée to the College's network of County and State-based resources. We provide customized training in workplace literacy, workforce readiness skills, and in technical, managerial and business skills at all levels, and have presented extensive training in ESL (English as a Second Language), Foreign Languages, basic skills, reading, writing and math, computers, Auto CAD, blueprint reading, welding, OSHA safety standards, office management/staff support, and the College's specialized Accounting programs.

Of the 19 county community colleges in New Jersey , Hudson County Community College is currently one of the largest providers of customized training services. Our sessions differ from those offered by commercial providers in a number of significant ways:

  • CBI's costs are more affordable than commercial for-profit training providers' sessions.
  • CBI contracts with College faculty and industry experts to develop training curricula and workforce competencies, assuring the client the highest quality of workforce training and professional outcomes.
  • CBI works to find ways of defraying costs to the businesses through grants that will pay for a significant portion of our clients' training programs. We assist clients in writing and obtaining those grants.
  • CBI does not offer “cookie-cutter” sessions. We design programs that are customized to meet the needs of our clients and their staffs.
  • CBI has a mobile computer lab that facilitates training at company locations. We also provide sessions in the College's classrooms and labs.
  • Opening in early 2008, the new HCCC Conference Center on Newkirk Street is positioned as a non-residential, executive level academic conference center with a focus on the external regional market and the HCCC Center for Business and Industry. It will be available for CBI clients as a comprehensive training site. Designed as a “smart building” offering technology, the Center has a total of 73,000 square feet including a large banquet room, pre-function space with bar, banquet kitchen, restaurant with restaurant kitchen, two large meeting rooms, one of which can be subdivided, and eight other meeting rooms. The building features an extensive range of the latest presentation and computer technology, including wireless access throughout the Conference Center .
